TOP 10 Best Low Cost 3D Scanners

Published on February 3, 2020 by Carlota V.
Low cost 3D scanners

Appearing at the end of the 1970s, laser triangulation technology paved the way for new technology capable of 3D scanning objects. Usually reserved for industrial applications, this tool has gradually evolved over time, allowing us to easily find low cost 3D scanners to use for ourselves. Today, there are two main technologies for 3D scanning objects, structured light technology and laser triangulation, and two types of devices, handheld and desktop.

The Best Low Cost 3D Scanners of 2020

Most of the 3D scanners in our listing are under $1,000, with some as low as $500. You will notice that finding an affordable 3D scanning solution is more difficult than finding a low cost 3D printing solution. In the listing below you will find 10 low cost 3D scanners, ordered by price, that offer great capabilities.

1. 3D Scanner 1.0 A from XYZprinting

XYZprinting offers two 3D scanners in its range, the 1.0 A and the 2.0. The 1.0 A is the most affordable solution from the Taiwanese manufacturer, offering four modes of scanning. It uses Intel RealSense Camera technology, similar to structured light, to scan areas of 60 x 60 x 30 cm, 80 x 50 x 80 cm, 100 x 100 x 200 cm or the size of a human head.

The scan resolution is between 1.0 and 2.5 mm, keeping in mind that the operating range is 50 cm. The manufacturer also provides XYZScan Handy, a scanning and post-editing software to edit your models after scanning. The starting price for this machine is $229. You can find more information HERE.
